At Thomas Mitchell Primary School, students from Years Prep to 6, have the opportunity to participate in the Mandarin LOTE program.  Studying an additional language, better equips students to engage with others and participate fully in an increasingly globalised world.

Students attend a weekly 50 minute session, where they can develop a joy for learning the language and an appreciation of different cultures. Throughout their language and culture journey, students are introduced to interactive Chinese stories, chants, songs, dance, and games. As the students develop their understanding of the language, they are encouraged to explore and develop speaking, reading and writing skills, as well as practise and improve their Chinese general conversational skills. We encourage students to use Mandarin as much as possible during classroom interactions with their teacher and peers.
