2026 Foundation (Prep) Applications for Enrolments are due by Friday 25 July 2025

Thank you for considering Thomas Mitchell Primary School for your child’s primary school years. 

The Department of Education has released a new statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.  The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Thomas Mitchell Primary School.

You will be able to determine your school zone by accessing Findmyschool.vic.gov.au 

What you need to do:

1. Visit us for a school tour during school terms at 10am on Mondays or at 10am on Fridays from March 2025.
2. Leave your details with us after the tour (or phone us) to receive an email regarding our online application for enrolment process.  The application pack will be available from 22 April 2025.
3. All applications are to be submitted online by visiting https://students.educationapps.vic.gov.au/s/ creating an account and completing the online application form no later than Friday 25 July 2025.
4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by Friday 8 August 2025. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should contact our school to accept the offer by Friday 22 August 2025.  Please note, if you have applied to enrol in more than one school, you should accept one enrolment offer only.
5. When accepting an offer, you will be required to provide additional personal and health information.
6. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2025
7. Your child will start Foundation (Prep) from Wednesday 28 January 2026.

Enrolment applications submitted after 26 July 2025 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

Enrolling in Years 1 to 6

To enrol your child in any a year level other than Prep (years 1 to 6), please contact the school to discuss your situation.  We will ask you if you are in our school zone and your reason for transfer.  We can answer any questions you may have, and can tell you about our school tours.  School Tours are encouraged before you make your decision.

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.

Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

School Tours

School tours are currently being conducted each Monday and Friday morning at 10.00am during the school term. Please come to our reception area, sign in as a visitor and one of our Assistant Principals will be available to take you for a tour of our school and answer any questions you may have.  We ask you to follow COVID safe practices when visiting our school.
